The above is my great grandmother.  I know nothing about her life prior her marriage 30 Jan 1887 to Richard Lutterell at St. Andrews RC, Dublin.  The couple had several children over the years with only John 1889, Alice 1890, Mary Margaret (my grandmother) 1897, surviving.  On the marriage certificate there is no surname for Bridget's mother Catherine.  At the time of her marriage, according to the record, Bridget lived at 11 Molesworth Street.  St. Andrew's marriage register states that her parents Patrick and Catherine were deceased.  The Lutterell couple lived a short time in England and can be found living in England in the 1891 Census on Dove Street, Sunderland, Durham, England.  Richard's sister Alice lived with them in England.  They couple returned to live in Dublin, 2 Bruswick Villa, Dublin. I am not sure that that was the only address.  I know that they were back in Ireland in 1894 because there is a child listed in St. Andrews register at that time.  The child, Michael, died.  Richard, the husband, died of TB in Jan 1901.  Bridget is then listed at the same address but living with another family.  At that time in a record she claims to have no children, says that she is single and from county Cork and she is listed as being much younger.  This information appears to be manufactured!  Bridget left for American and arrived there 22 Jul 1901 and remarried in 1902. She become a naturalized citizen in 1947 in her 70's and in that document she states that she was born in Dundalk, Ireland 10 Feb 1967. The Dundalk information may be authenic because that is where she placed her children after Richard's death.  After Richard, her husband died, the children were placed in a convent and remained there until Dec 1906 when they joined their mother in Philadelphia, PA, USA.  I am curious about her family, does she have siblings, why didn't she use her father's name for any of her children?  She used her mother's name and most of the names in Richard's family.  Why place the children in Dundalk if they were living in Dublin?  I have tried to reach the convent (St Joseph's) as others have told me may be the place, but no one answers any of my emails.  I wanted to know if there were records that may contain additional information.  On the ship's manifest that brought Bridget to USA (her name was spelled improperly) it says that Bridget was going to meet her cousin Jackson who resided in Philadelphia.  My DNA matches Jackson's that come from a location just north of Dundalk.  Any help would be appreciated.  I am on Ancestry. com and would be happy to open my site to anyone who would like to view the documents.  Judith Link Salvatore.

  • Thank you, Roger.  I have also found this record and hope that it may be accurate.  Who knows?  I am not sure how to use this site but have posted another message on the Baldoyle Co., Dublin section because of the information that you gave me.  Is there anyway to access the records of the children in Dundalk?  Is there any more record in Baldoyle connected to this family, e.g. additional children?  I would be happy to hunt myself for any information, if you direct me.  I appreciate your assistance.  Thank you. I used Roots Ireland which is a subscription site. I went back and searched from 1862-1872 with the same parents and located an 1864 record for a Catherine. See below. Different parish but also in North Dublin. Swords is just to the northwest of Baldoyle. Here is a link to the parish register for Dundalk if you want to search.  http://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0216

  • I was able to find this record yesterday.  Thank you, Roger.  It helps to have someone who knows the Irish location of towns and parishes.  Judy
