Hello,
My great-great grandfather and great-great grandmother came to the US from 'the Milltown area' of County Kerry, but I do not have the parish name. (Maybe FIRIES?) Here is what I do have:
Bart Cronin (1859 Ireland, born) - parents John Cronin and Helen Godfrey
- Milltown, Rathcumane, Rockfield and Taha possible hometowns
- came to the US maybe in early 1880s, possibly 'on the run'
- several siblings including Mary Cronin Allman
Ellen Langford (Cronin) (1866, born) - parents Alexander Langford and Mary McCarthy?
- married Bart in 1886 in US
- Tralee and Milltown possible hometowns
- has 11 children!
Thanks for any help you can give!

Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
I think the Cronins lived in Aglish civil parish first in Aglish townland and later in Racomane East or Racomane West. The RC parish would be Firies. I can see a baptismal record for Elizabeth in 1850, Timothy in 1852, Patrick 1857, Bart in 1859 and Mary in 1861. www.irishgenealogy.ie has the records. I could not find the marriage record.
Did not find an Ellen Langford record on www.irishgenealogy.ie I did locate an 1865 civil birth index record in the Tralee civil registration district. See below.

Hi Mr. McDonnell,
Thank you so much for your time and detailed response. I had also consulted that site and was able to find a marriage between John Cronin and Ellen Godfrey in 1846 and another son, Martin Cronin, who was born in 1847.
I'm wondering if you have any idea how large these townlands (Racomane East/West) are. The reason I ask is because I've found records in the Petty Court Sessions of a Cronin family from Racomane and I want to confirm they are the same families. There is a site somewhere where you can look at census records from 1901 and 1911. And in those censues, Racomane only had a few houses. The Petty Court Session records were from the 1880s.
I know it's a longshot that you may know the sizes of the townlands, etc, but I just wanted to try. Thank you very much for the help so far!

Racomane East is 246 acres and Racomane West is 262 acres- modest size townlands.

You may want to consider autosomal DNA testing.
