Hello, 

I am researching my father's family - and have had some help from this forum (thank you all!) but still remain pretty stuck on finding where by Father's family was from. James Moran(brn 1843)  came to Dunmore, PA (married to Sarah McHale - not sure if in Ireland or Dunmore). James's parents were John Moran and Bridget Brogran. Oral history says they were from the Westport  area. I know that my Father's maternal great grandparents were married in Ballina (John Swift and Sibby Philbin) Sibby died of tetanus leaving her two young children and John remarried a woman named Mary, unsure of her last name . They also came to Dunmore, PA. 

We will be in Ireland for 10 days in September and would love to know more about these families. Any help anyone can lend would be appreciated.  We are also researching my husband's family - Currans and Gormans (Gormans from Carrowmore), but that is a story for a different message.

    I likely commented before on a prior post. The Westport RC parish records start in 1845. On July 8th the National Library of Ireland plans to place all RC parish registers online for free searching. Below are the records available for the Westport area. I did check Roots Ireland and there was an 1844 baptismal record for a james Moran with father John, however, the mother's name was Katherine. This record was in Aghagower parish which is just to the east of Westport. Transcription is below the info for Westport parish.
