I am searching for Benjamin ENGLAND born abt 1800. I know that Benjamin married in Bourney parish, Tipperary in 1841. I have been unable to find his birthplace or date. Recently I found a Benjamin ENGLAND in the 1821 Offaly census who was born in 1799 so this might be a match. He is living with a Benjamin BULFIN family. I have ruled out all the Benjamin ENGLANDS I have found in Tipperary and Laois so am very interested in this one in Birr.
Does anyone have any suggestions on where I might go from here to obtain more info on this Benjamin? I have looked at Griffiths, Calendar of Wills, 1901 census. Thanks for any help you can give.

Thanks, Col. I have seen this record. This is not my Benjamin ENGLAND. I think this individual died in 1890 and my Benjamin died sometime in the 1850s. (I may have the reason I ruled out this person wrong since I am not looking at my records but there definitely was a sound reason.) I do appreciate the tip.

Three on findmypast;
Benjamin England; 1837-1864 Roscrea District Reg
Benjamin England; 1805-1890 Mountmellick District Reg
Benjamiin England; b.1892 Roscrea District Reg.
==================
Jack Mc Donald -
Thank you Jack. Unfortunately, I had already ruled out these 3 Benjamin ENGLANDs. The first one Roscrea) was born in 1837. I have documentation of the marriage of my Benjamin to Catherine Bannon in 1841. The second, Mountmellick, died in 1890. Catherine Bannon was a widow in the 1850s based on the House Books. The third one, Roscrea, was born too late - 1892.
This is why I latched on to the Benjamin ENGLAND, b. 1799, and living with the BULFIN family in Clonbrone in 1821. Hope springs eternal!
Is findmypast worth the money? I had read some negative things when they first advertised their Irish holdings so I am curious. Thanks.

Hi VeronicaI found Joseph and Widow England in the townsland of Clonakenny parish of Bourney in the tithe applotment books.The Tithe Applotment Books which are available to search on the NAI's genealogy website, were compiled between 1823 and 1837 in order to determine the amount which occupiers of agricultural holdings over one acre should pay in tithes to the Church of Ireland.I also found in the Griffiths valuation records Edward,Ellen,Richard,Rody in the townsland of Bonagortbaun Clonakenny Bourney.Also Thomas and Anne in the 1901cesus(see below)One intrensting point is On the road in Bonagortbawn Clonakenny where the Englands lived, there neighbours were Irelands and Galways.
They are not there in the 1911cencus so they possible died.
I think to get Benjamin you will have to extend your search wider.

I agree, Tim, that I need to branch out but I just don't know where else to go. My Benjamin ENGLAND may have been RC based on his marriage certificate and the baptismal certificates for his 3 daughters. I believe he died shortly after his last child was conceived in 1846, therefore, would not appear in Griffiths. He is not listed in the Tithe applotment books. His widow, Catherine (BANNON), seems to be listed in the House and Field Books for Corriga (Bourney) with reference to also having land in Bonagortbaum (Bourney). She is not in Griffiths because she departed for England before that was published. (Her name is crossed out in the Bonagortbaum and Corriga House and Field Books)
I am interested in the 1821 notation of a Benjamin ENGLAND serving as a manservant to Benjamin BULFIN in Birr parish as another option since I have ruled out the other Benjamin ENGLAND's in Tipperary and Laois.
Thanks for trying to help.
