Unfortunately, I cannot find any reference of Filiter parish in CO. Kerry. Here is a link that shows all the civil parishes in the County:

The closest I can see is Fenit..

Did you know that church records from Co. Kerry have been uploaded to http://churchrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/ free of charge? If Owen was born and married in Co. Kerry and if there is a record of these events you should be able to find them here.

Have you tried looking into the family?s emigration? Sometimes more infomation can be found at the port of arrival rather than that of departure. You may be lucky and find a place name here. For information on US immigration records check http://www.archives.gov/research/immigration/
