Did you know the late Chuck Feeney, philanthropist, and businessman who made his fortune as a co-founder of Duty-Free Shoppers Group was also one of the founders and first financial backers of the Ireland Reaching Out Programme?

In a wonderful new edition of the Irish Genealogical Magazine, Irish Lives Remembered, Ireland XO Founder and Chairperson, Mike Feerick recounts how he first met with Chuck and how that long friendship ended up sowing the seeds of what Ireland Reaching Out has become today.

Mike chats about his efforts to trace the Feeney line of Chuck's ancestry to Ireland, which resulted in him completing a 100-page family history book as a gift to Chuck in his later years.  The research uncovered his great-grandfather, John Feeney, emigrated from the Townland of Cullentra, in the Parish of Rathcline, County Longford in 1854.
