Richards initial query:

My name is Richard Jones and my mother's maiden name was Marjorie Glasgow. I found limited information for who I believe is my 4th great grandfather. He apparently married Anne Ford on 14 September (abbreviated 7 br) 1773. Their first child Margaret was baptized on 5 July 1774. Their second child Thomas (my 3rd great grandfather) was baptized 7 May 1777. All three of the church record entries were preceded by the word "Rathd". I have no information proving birth or death dates of David or his wife Anne; though David is said to have lived from 1750 to 1821. I believe both David and Thomas remained in Ireland until their death; David in Rathdowney and Thomas in Fethard, County Tipperary. However both of Thomas's sons Peter and Michael emigrated to North America; Peter is my 2nd great grandfather.

Richard was paired with Elaine Loughman, a local to the area

Thank you so much for pairing us up with Elaine Loughman for our “Meet & Greet” on 3 June 2023.  Elaine couldn’t have been nicer and was very knowledgeable about her home area of Donaghmore and Rathdowney.  My cousins and I believe our 4th Great Grandfather, David Glasgow (c.1750-1821), lived and worked in the Rathdowney vicinity.  Elaine guided our driver, while my wife and I listened to Elaine’s wonderful stories and enjoyed the beautiful Irish Countryside.

We visitied the Donaghmore Workhouse Museum where Elaine related stories of the plight of the Irish poor in the 1800’s.  We then visited a number of old churches in and around Rathdowney where we saw several ancient cemeteries.  The next stop was the village of Rathdowney for a look at the Town Square.  Elaine then took us to a section of Rathdowney she said corresponded to the word Shra(?)… which appeared on my 3rd great grandfather’s and 3rd great grandaunt’s baptismal records.  Here we stopped at the home of Elaine’s Aunt for a beautiful panoramic view of an area that David Glasgow likely lived for a time.
