The Legend of the Pirate Queen Continues at this Year's New Jersey Renaissance Faire

Chaste Treasure

The Gates Open May 19!

The New Jersey Renaissance Faire is celebrating its ninth season. Thousands of people will head to Bordentown, NJ this summer to enjoy all that the outdoor festival has to offer. The theme, which threads its way through the day’s events, follows the story of the fierce 16th century Pirate Queen, Grace O’Malley, and her quest for justice from the ruthless English Governor of Connacht, Sir Richard Bingham.

Ashley Davis of Philadelphia, PA will play the fearless leader who valiantly protected the independence of Ireland's land against the English crown. Davis is excited to embrace the role of O’Malley, noting,  “It is so important to see that she was more than just a pirate. She was a protector, a mother, a sister, and, most importantly, she fought for what she loved. Her story should never be forgotten.” Since her death in 1603, tales of her courageously adventurous life have captured generations. The New Jersey Renaissance Faire will continue the tradition.

A cast of 70+ actors will join Davis, ready to interact with patrons as soon as they enter through the gates. This personal engagement makes this Faire stand out among other summer festivals. Unforgettable moments between the cast and Faire-goers are created with each smile the day brings.

Fun for all ages, the littlest friends of the Faire can learn how to be a true Knight at the interactive Knight School. They’ll find beautiful fairies throughout the event ready to make new friends, and learn some delightful dances taught by joyous peasants. They may even run into a not-so-little, magical leprechaun.

New Jersey Renaissance FaireAll patrons can hear fascinating stories told by living history storytellers, see safe demonstrations of Renaissance weapons, and watch Master Glassblower Jason Klein as he creates breathtaking pieces of art on-site. Seven stages located throughout the sprawling 60 acres of Faire grounds will host wild entertainment each day, along with jousting matches, a human chess match, sword fighting, fire-breathing acts and aerialists.

The always popular, upper class, ladies trio Chaste Treasure will return this season with their beautifully sassy performances. The group, which originated years ago at the New Jersey Renaissance Faire, just finished their new album, Busting Out.

In addition to the non-stop entertainment, the renowned family-friendly festival will also have an array of unique shops in it’s Merchant Village, and booths serving delicious dishes. The fun begins May 19 and continues through June 3, weekends only.
