My great grandfather, Alexander Carr b. 10 Oct 1868 Kilronan Innishmore Aran Islands, Galway.  HIs father was Henry Carr b. 30 Jan. 1830 Clifden Galway and his mother was RoseAnna Quinn b. 1846 Galway.  RoseAnna is buried in Clifen along with her infant son Samuel Adolphus.

Alexander emigrated to North America at age 16 along with his brother, Charles Hamilton Carr.  They arrived at Boston, MA USA 10 Aug 1885.

From there, they made their way to the Halton/Milton area of Ontario, Canada, ostensibly to meet up with their older sister, Mary Louisa Carr who by then was married to Benjamin Handley Taylor.

Charles eventually settled in Worcester, MA USA but Alexander stayed in Canada for a time.  He married Annabelle Montgomery in Hillsburgh, Ontario.  She was from Orangeville, Ontario which is not far from Hillsburgh.

They settled at Marsville, Ontario for 7 years and had their first son Henry Oswald Livingstone Carr in 1894.

In 1900, they moved to Worcester, MA USA where my grandfather Joseph Gordon Carr was born 19 Sep 1900.  They lived there until 1902 when they came back to Canada, settling in Toronto, Ontario.

Annabelle passed away in 1925 in Toronto and Alexander in 1931 in Toronto.

Alexander had built 2 houses in Toronto, at 85 and 87 Fairbank Ave. which still stand today.
