What about the previous Pettit line? Who were John's father and mother and grandparents and their children's names DOB. etc. I'm seeking a gr. gr. grandmother whom I think was an Anne Pettit but she would have been born around 1790 -1815. She married a Brady from Graffoge abt. 1830-1837 and had a son in 1838. Any info on the earlier Pettit generations?
Anne (nee Barrett) Pettit 1857
Anne Dillon Barrett (1857-1889) aka Miss ‘Nannie’ Barrett of Carrick on Shannon, married a grocer, John Pettit (1857–1909) of Granard, on April 6, 1880.
Both were children of successful merchants; both were the third child in the family, and both had fathers already deceased.
The couple were married by John’s brother, the Rev. Fr. Dennis Pettit.
Granard lies just south-east of Carrick.
As it turned out, Nannie was the only Carrick Barrett to marry, and so it was her Barrett-Pettit children that would go on to inherit Carrick on Shannon’s “P.Barrett & Co.” Her father was Patrick Barrett Esq. who was born in Finnor near Croghan, Boyle, Co. Roscommon. Her mother, Anne Dillon of Ballaghadereen, was a first cousin of the infamous John Blake Dillon (1816-1866) of Ballaghdereen.

Cecile RIP June 1889
On July 5th, 1889, Nannie (née Barrett) ‘dearly beloved wife of John Pettit’ died age 30. Her untimely death seems to have followed soon after the birth of her 7th baby, Cecilia. Her death notice was published in the American-Irish newspaper. She was buried with the Pettit family in Granard Old Graveyard (plot 316, Section A). Baby Cecilia Pettit died from Diahorrea, age 1 year and 5 months. She died in Cortobber in the care of her relatives there it would appear. Dora Shannon was present.
John Pettit, now a widower with 4 young children, soon remarried. Anne's children went to live with her only surviving sibling at the shop in Carrick on Shannon.
