Arthur Bunster was born in Stradbally, Laois. He travelled to Australia in 1849 to be with his brothers Thomas and William Hovendon. Arthur then travelled to Janesville Wisconsin where he started brewing beer. He married Alinda Pratt and In 1858 they travelled to British Columbia to start a new life together. Arthur bought a brewery on Vancouver Island and later went into politics. He served as the Member for Vancouver for 8 years. When he left politics, Arthur retired to California where he dabbled in real estate with his brother Thomas H. B. Hovendon 1820 | Ireland Reaching Out (irelandxo.com).
