When Avis Eve Carey was born in 1750 in Seapatrick, Down, Northern Ireland, her father, John, was 50, and her mother, Anne, was 35. She married William Harrison Gibson on April 23, 1764, in Ireland. They had two children during their marriage: William and George Gibson. William, Jr. was a Patriot of the War of 1812.
Avis Carey Gibson died in 1811 in Kimbolton, Ohio, at the age of 61, and was buried there.
