The above image is of Bernard Carroll and his wife and some of his children.

Bernard  Carroll was born in Ferbane, County Offaly (Kings), Ireland on 15 September 1839.

He arrived in Sydney,  New South Wales, Australia (Assisted passage) with his parents James Carroll and Catherine Flynn and his 7 siblings on 1 May 1856 (aged 16) on the Commodore Perry.

  • Bernard was the brother of my 2nd Great Grandfather John.

    Parents: James Carroll and Catherine Flynn (Flinn)

    Bernard was one of seven children born to James and Catherine. James, Catherine and 5 of the children emigrated to Australia on board Perry Commodore and arrived in Sydney on 1 May 1856. The two eldest, Mary and Ann emigrated to Australia a year or two prior to the rest of the family.

    Bernard married Mary Collins at St Mary’s temporary cathedral on 26 January 1867. The current Cathedral was under construction at that time.

    Died 30 December 1913, Darlington, Sydney, New South Wales. Buried at the Catholic Cemetery at Rookwood
