I'm trying to find out about my great  great grandfather Bernard O'Neill. He was said to be born in Dublin.   I would like to know if he was a free settler or a felon he was said to be 104 when he died in Picton,  NSW, Australia in 1896.  He married a Mary Ryan (born in Tipperary) they were married in Picton in 1862. Mary and Bernard had 8 children, on early paperwork they are registered as Neil and later O'Neill.

His gravesite and headstone has been lost so I can't find details there and the details on his death certificate do not state his parents names.

His daughter Elizabeth's birth certificate states that Bernard was 53 years old when she was born in 1870 so the story of his longevity is probably untrue however he was at least 20 years older than his wife Mary nee Ryan as her age was given as 33 on that same birth certificate.

If anyone has any clues about my Great great grand dad I would like to hear from you.
