Bridget Bouchier was my paternal great-great-grandmother. She was born around 1800. There is unconfirmed evidence that she was a daughter of James Bourchier/Bouchier (c.1763-1839), who owned land in the village of Mountshannon in the Parish of Inishcaltra (now Mountshannon), in the then County Galway (now Clare). James Bourchier/Bouchier was buried on Holy Island.

Bridget married Michael Coffey around 1820. They had the following children (whom we know of): Patrick (born around 1820); John (born around 1825); James (born around 1828; he is my great-grandfather); Michael (born around 1834); Francis (born around 1838); Mary (born around 1842); and William (born around 1845).

We know that Bridget Coffey née Bouchier emigrated from Ireland to the USA in 1852, aboard the ship Isaac Webb, together with her children Michael, Francis, Mary and William, but without her husband Michael. They arrived at Castle Garden, New York City, between 27 September and 21 October 1852 and lived on Manhattan Island.

Bridget lived with her son John (who had emigrated separately from his mother) until she died at some time during the 1870s.
