  • I have a Bridget Collins of Kilkee (Co. Clair) in my family tree. Born 1839 and married to John Ryan, she died in 1913.  She is buried in St Anne's Cemetery, Cormac, Ontario Canada.  She would be my gg grandmother.

Please feel free to reach out to me.

    Regards,

    David Ryan

  • Hi David,

My great uncle John W Gallagher married the daughter of Bridget Collins and John Ryan, Margaret Ryan (Jan 1862-Sept 1944). I was intrigued when I saw the Kilkee connection through Bridget Collins.

I am wondering if you know of any other Kilkee connections in the area? My McNamara branch (Martin McNamara (1811ish-1877) settled in Wilberforce, orginally from Kilkee.

There was also a group of settlers who lived in Newfoundout who were also from Kilkee.

I was hoping that perhaps knowing who came from Kilkee would help me build a possible understanding of who might be friends/neighbours from Ireland and allow me to build bridges back to Clare.

    My email is sammcgu@gmail.com

  • Hi Curious Mac,

Sorry, but that was the only connection that I know of to Kilkee.  My relationship is through Jeremiah, Margaret's next eldest brother.

    Regards,

    David

    Back again...

I was looking through my notes and found the info below.  Looks like there might have been a double connection to the Gallagers as John Ryan's first wife was a Sarah Gallagher who died in childbirth.
