  • Hello,

I am curious about your Delia Marrinan. My greatgrandmother was Mary Marrinan from Illaunbaun/Derrymore which is located between Inagh & Ennistymon. She was born in 1864 and died, here, in Australia in 1926. While from an earlier generation it would be great to see if there was any connection. Mary's parents were Cornelius & Honora (nee O'Gorman) and her grandparents were Timothy & Anne (nee Rynne). Look forward to hearing from you when you have the time. All the best, Michael

  • hi Michael, thank you for reaching out. I believe there is a connection but a few generations back. I signed up for Ancestry.com this year, which is where an active group of Marrinan family researchers found me and gave information on our earliest known ancester, Tadhg Marrinan born around 1725. He had 2 sons, Michael Marrinan (1758-1821) and Tadhg "Old Tim" Marrinan. Looking at the records on Ancestry.com, it looks like your greatgrandmother descends from Michael and mine from "Old Tim." If you are interested in learning more, besides Ancestry.com there is a facebook group called "Marrinan"--people post information, inquires, research and photos. Be well, Maureen

  • Hello Maureen,

Thank you for your quick response. Great news that you have found the Marrinan FB group, I didn't realise that you were already a member. It dose look like we are distant cousins. All the best, Michael
