Bridget Murphy was born in Owenduff, Co. Wexford in 1827. She is most famed as being the paternal great-grandmother of US president JFK, and one of the people directly connecting JFK to Ireland. In 1849 she emigrated to America with her fiancé Patrick Kennedy (1823-1858) whom she married later that year. The couple settled in Boston and had five children, four of whom survived to adulthood;

Patrick J.
Patrick J. would go on to marry Mary Augusta Hickey, also a child of Irish immigrants. Together they would have a child named Joseph Patrick Kennedy who would marry Rose Elizabeth Fitzgerald. These would become JFK's parents.
Bridget was widowed at the young age of 31 when her husband died of cholera on the 22nd of Novemer 1858, exaclty 105 years to the day before JFK. Bridget passed away on the 20th of December 1888.
