According to the NSW Assisted Passenger List, Bridget was born around 1832, as she was 23 years old when she arrived in Australia in 1855. I have been unable to find a Baptism Record for this year, but research has identified a Mary MULLALLY born in 1826 to a Mary KELLY and James MULLALLY (correct parents in her Marriage Registration).

She arrived in the Colony of New South Wales, Australia at Sydney on 20th March 1855.  She sailed from Plymouth, England on the ship Lord Hungerford. Bridget was an Assisted Immigrant and was documented on the List of Immigrants per ship as "being 23 years old. Her Native Place and Country is documented as Tipperary, County Tipperary. The parents’ names on the Passenger List were Michael and Mary MULLALLY. Her father was documented as (dead) and it was written her mother living in Ballintaggart, County Tipperary. Other facts documented were: She could neither read nor write; she had no relations in the Colony and that her health was "full".

Bridget was a House Servant on the Garry Owen Estate, Rozelle, New South Wales. This was a stately mansion owned by John Ryan Brennan (born in Ireland), the Crown Solicitor and Police Magistrate.

One year later, in April 1856, Bridget married John Fallon at St Augustine's Church, Balmain. John was a stone cutter on the Garry Owen Estate. On her Marriage Certificate, her fathers name is now documented as James MULLALLY and her mothers maiden name as Mary KELLY. (I have been unable to locate a marriage record for them nor any future children).

Bridget and John had eight children - two daughters and six sons. Their birth order and names were: Bridget, John, Michael Joseph, Thomas Bede, Elizabeth Ann, William James, Martin Peter and Patrick Edward FALLON.

Bridget died in August 1903 and is buried in Waverley Cemetery, Waverley, New South Wales, Australia.

  • Excellent summary.  I have a DNA connection (21.2 cM) with Bridget Mullally from Ballintaggart.  My ancestor, Thomas Mullally, born in the 1780s, had two children baptized at Ballingarry in 1818 and 1822, with subsequent children with Margaret Millea baptized at Drangan Parish.  We believe Thomas and Bridget were likely first cousins.  Cindy (Mullally) Reed.  USA

  • Hi Cindy, It's Elizabeth here from Sydney, Australia. I was the author of the above post due to the all the difficulties I have had with finding any MULLALLY connections with my Bridget!

We have previously emailed each other. I will note to send you an email next week.

Glad to see we are both still on the hunt for MULLALLY connections. Warm Wishes Elizabeth
