We think Catherine Geraghty or Garrity or Gherity was born on December 25, 1802, in or near Belmullet, Mayo, Leitrim, Ireland. Her father was Thomas. He was 24 when she was born, perhaps, and her mother, Elizabeth Conner, was 20. Kitty had two sons and one daughter with Richard (Hefferan) Heffron between 1824 and 1835. Her daughter, Grace Hefferan, immigrated with her from Belmullet. Grace married Bernie Niland, they were my third great grandparents. Kitty died having lived for more than 100 years on June 29, 1908, in Erin Prairie, Wisconsin, at the age of 107.
