Witnesses, Thomas Courtney and Mary Monks. She was born in Ireland. She was baptized at St. Paul’s Arran Quay,
Co. Dublin, Ireland, on 17 Aug 1785. Mary died in Ireland aft 1833.2
Mary’s name is found in the baptismal record of her son Thomas Joseph Dolan. The Tithes for the Parish of Finglas,
Co. Dublin in 1833 lists the Widow Dolan in Finglas East, Her husband Charles was dead by this time.
Rootsireland.ie has a St. Paul’s Arran Quay baptism, listed for Mary Byrne on 17 Aug 1785, daughter of Phillip
Byrne and Ann, surname not recorded. Sponsors were John MacGinnis and Elizabeth Heary. Since Charles and
Mary named their first son Thomas Joseph, Charles’ father was possibly named Thomas. Their 2nd son was named
Philip and this would suggest that Mary’s father was most likely named Philip. This baptism of a Mary Byrne,
mother of Thomas and Phillip Dolan is possibly her baptism.
They had the following children:
2 i. Thomas Joseph (1828-1896)
3 ii. Philip (1830-1916)
