Charles was born in Kilmore, County Cavan in 1854. He joined the Bedfordshire Regiment and was stationed in Colchester for a time.
He married Bridget Costello and they had several children. Their daughter, Mary Kathleen, was my grandmother. She married Joseph John Walsh.
