  • Hi there, I am no expert but have come across a Charles Waters in Cork, Ireland on the Griffiths Valuation records. My mothers maiden name is Waters, her family before moving to London were from a small village near to a town called Macroom. I puzzled over the name Charles for a while but we don't seem to have that first name in our line.. but never say never! Have you done dna? Best wishes, Karen

  • Hi Karen.  My Charles was born in the US in NYC in 1824 to parents who were said to have come from Sligo.  One Census record has his mother Ann living with them and her country of birth is Ireland.  His wife was also born in NYC to parents said to have come from Sligo.  Her maiden name was McDonough and her Uncle Thomas Feeney lived with them in his later years.  Census records only say Ireland as his place of birth.  My DNA is on My Heritage, Ancestry, Living GND and 23 & Me as well as Gedmatch (kit number A081177).  Would love to see if we're related.  I have a very detailed tree that my grandfather drew up for Charles and family going forward.
