Place of migration
Migrated to /Born in Canada
My great grandfather, Clifford Bernard Sullivan was born in Douglastown, New Brunswick in 1872 to parents Elizabeth (Burke) and James Sullivan. I believe that Elizabeth was a first generation in Canada and that my Sullivans came a generation earlier. I believe that they all came from Ireland but have not found proof yet. Elizabeth Burke and James Sullivan married in New Brunswick in 1867. My great grandparents, Ellen Coughlin and Clifford B. Sullivan emigrated from New Brunswick to Portland, Maine and married on May 20, 1905. Ellen and Clifford settled in Roxbury, Massachusetts, Clifford became a mounted patrolman, and they had my grandfather John Sullivan. My grandmother Mary Isabel (Kerins) Sullivan (John's wife) and her sister, my aunt Dora Louise always told me that I would always remember where my ancestors came from because of my name and my grandmother always told me that all of my ancestors came from Kerry (but she could possibly have just been speaking of their Kerins and Warren sides, so I am hesitant to link a parish or county yet to my Sullivans). I never met my grandfather, John Sullivan who died before I was born and who worked for the City of Boston.
