Daniel Morgan was born on 17 January 1829 in County Derry, Ireland, the son of Bernard Morgan* and Roseann (McWilliam) Morgan.* In 1847 he immigrated to America and worked in “Railroad Engineering” near Memphis, Tennessee in the employ of the Illinois Central Railroad Company. He moved to Shullsburg, Lafayette County, Wisconsin in 1854 and bought land. On 6 April 1856, he married Miss Mary Gallagher.  They moved to Seymour, Wisconsin where they farmed for about five years. Then they moved to Shullsburg, Wisconsin.

Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Morgan were the parents of eight children.  Mr. Morgan died of Bright’s Disease on 16 Jan 1905. His funeral took place at St. Matthew’s Cathedral in Shullsburg, Wisconsin on 19 January 1905. He was buried at the nearby cemetery.
