Great Great Grandfather Dennis Hinchey arrived in Australia in 1878 with his wife Mary O'Keeffe, which was 14 years after his son Michael had preceded them to Australia on 29 May 1862 on board the ABYSSINIAN. Michael was responsible for bringing his parents to Australia from Ireland under the Immigration Deposit (Journals), this is where a relative in the Colony of NSW paid a deposit for a relative/friend to travel to Australia. It was a scheme the family used often to bring out to Australia other relatives and friends, in some cases the future son-in-law or daughter-in-law of the Hinchey children.
The shipping records show that the LA HOGUE departed from Plymouth, United Kingdom. Denis and Mary arrived in the Colony on 21 October 1878, also on board the LA HOGUE was their seventh child David,
