David Larkin and Margaret O'Brien born about 1813 emigrated from County Tipperary to Newfoundland, Canada around 1836 to1840 with their two young sons James David b. 1834 and Dennis b. 1836 County Tipperary. I was told they came from Ireland to Newfoundland aboard the "Cossair". However I can not find this ship in any listing and am wondering if is just the type of ship. They were Roman Catholic. Three years later, they moved to a farm in St. Peter's Bay, Kings County, Prince Edward Island (PEI), Canada, lot 42. I was told that David was a cooper in Ireland. He was a farmer in PEI. I was also told David b.1813 immigrated with 5 brothers, three of his brothers were William, born about 1816; John, born about 1821; and Patrick b.1823.
I am looking for the parish David and Margaret were from. The last reply from Ireland XO stated that Jan 2016: "Hi records for the RC parish of Grangemockler begin in 1839 for baptisms and marriages so they won't be useful for finding the parish of origin of David as he was born before this time. You may have to rely on this Tithe's Larkin entry until such time as further record become available. The 1833 Tithe Applotment Books show a David and James Larkin in the Dioisce of Siemore, Parish:Grangemockler Township: Ninemilehouse (Irish Tigh na Naoi Mile, historically called 'Killcullen' or in Irish 'Cill Chuillnn'), Tipperary."
With naming patterns, James may be the father of David b. 1813, thus the naming of the first son James David Larkin b. 1834 County Tipperary. There are two more sons, the fifth son named William David b.1843 PEI and the ninth and last child, named David Larkin b.1853 PEI.
