Dennis Leahey immigrated from County Tipperary to New York, USA in approx. 1840 with his parents John Leahey and Catherine "Kate" Cleary. They settled in Syracuse in Onondaga County, New York. According to the 1911 book Pioneer Irish of Onondaga County by Theresa Bannan, John Leahy was one of the first "Irishmen" in town. John's brother, Dennis immigrated to Syracuse as well.
