Dennis was Baptised in Borrisokane in 1847. He is the eldest surviving child of William Kennedy and Mary (born Carroll). It is not known whether William and Mary had children before Dennis but if Mary was born around 1818 then this puts her at 29 when he was born, which is possibly quite late for that time. I cannot find records of other births or Baptisms, except for Dennis's siter, Mary, who was Baptised in Borrisokane in 1849, so it seems that Mary had no difficulty in conceiving. She had a further child, Catherine, born in Wales in 1853.
