My 2 x great grandfather is Edmund Loughlin, born 18 May 1832 in Castlewarren, Kilkenny. His parents were Patrick Loughlin (from Castlewarren, Kilkenny) & Sarah MacDonnell (possible from Gorwan, Kilkenny). Edmund was one of 7 known children - Patt 1830 - 1832; Edmund 1832 - 1875; Patrick 1833 - 1907; Mary 1835 - unknown; John 1840 - 1880; Bridget 1845 - unknown; Gregory 1850 - 1828. Edmund along with brothers Patrick & Gregory all came to Australia in the 1850s and married.
Edmund married Catherine Murphy (1841 - 1900) who was born in Ballygurteen, Paulstown, Kilkenny. Catherine's parents were Laurence Murphy & Catherine Doyle. Catherine is one of 6 known children - Patrick 1832 - 1885; Mary 1834 - 1894; Bridget Ellen 1836 - unknown; Anne 1839 - 1884; Catherine 1841 - 1900; Margaret Maria 1844 - 1880. I have had DNA matches to for the Loughlin family in the USA & Canada as well as Australia, it would be great to find others on here who are also related.
Furthur research using DNA has shown that Edmunds father Partrick Loughlin had a twin brother by the name of John whose son James Loughlin, born 1817 in Kilkenny immigrated to America in abt 1840.
