My 2 x great grandfather Edmund Loughlin was born in Castlewarren, Kilkenny on 18 May 1832, his parents were Patrick Loughlin & Sarah MacDonnell. Patrick & Sarah had 7 children - Patt 1830-1832; Edmund 1832-1875; Patrick 1833-1907; Mary 1835-unknown; John 1840-1880; Bridget 1845-unknown; Gregory 1850-1928.
In 1858 Edmund immigrated to Australia, his brother Patrick had already immigrated to Australia the year before and their younger brother Gregory would also join them. In 1860 Edmund married Catherine Murphy and they had 8 children together. Catherine was born in 1841 in Ballygurteen, Paulstown, Kilkenny to Laurence Murphy & Catherine Doyle. Catherine arrived in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia with her mother and her younger sister Margaret in 1856, they were to join Catherine's brother Patrick. Edmund and his brothers set up as coopers in Kyneton, Victoria where they had a successful business and raised their families.
Sadly Edmund died suddenly in Echuca, Victoria, he was only 43 years old.
