Married Rosina McDermott, of Cornagawna, Co. Lietrim, in New York City. His older brother Patrick (surname changed to McBride by US immigration authorities in Boston) married Rosina's older sister Catherine, also in New York City. Father of two daughters: Mary Margaret (b. 1921) and Margaret Mary (b. 1925). Served in the US Army in 1917-1918; made a US citizen while in Virginia awaiting deployment to France; gassed in the trenches but survived.
