Edward’s army discharge documents say he was born in Dundalk about 1802 or 1803. His parents may have been Edward Kelly and Margaret Lennon. He became a Master Tailor in the army. He married Anne Derrom in September 4 1838 in Brompton, Chelsea. Her parents were Sgt. Richard Derrom and Mary Winder and she was born in 1814 in York, Canada. Anne and Edward went to Hobart with a convict ship arriving in 1849 a day before their first child was born.  Edward died in his hotel The Royal Oak, Onehunga, NZ in 1860 predeceasing his wife by 35 years. DNA testing of his great-great-grandson of Sydney Australia shows a match with a Californian family who’s ancestor William Kelly was a shoemaker from the Dundalk area.
