Edward Murphy was born at Davidstown, Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford, and baptised in the Church of St. David, Davidstown, Diocese of Ferns.
His parents were Phillip Murphy and Mary Scallan who had married in 1874.
According to the book "Davidstown Courtnacuddy" (A Wexford Parish) by Patrick Hennesy, in November 1893 his family emigrated to Buenos Aires with him, brothers and sisters.
Once arrived in Argentina the family settled near Venado Tuerto, an Irish community area in Argentina. There his father Phillip established a farm and dedicated to grow sheep cattle and to other land related activities. Edward married Maria Mackey another Irish descendant and the couple had two daughters and one son.
In the following years the family established their home in Rosario a town near the Paraná river not very far from their farm activities.
