Eleanor Farrell 1790

Eleanor Farrell was born in the early 1790s in Clone. The Penal Laws were still in action during her early lifetime, banning the education and many other basic rights of Catholics. She grew up in a large and very poor family. She married neighbour Patrick Doyle on 13 Sep 1809, witnessed by her brother John Farrell, her cousin Catherine Loftus and Bridget Hanlon.

Patrick was a small farmer renting nine acres for his family.
