Eliza Shea lived in Modeligo Parish, Waterford. She married Patrick Leahy from Tallow Parish, Waterford. She was born in 1806 and died in 1895 in Chicago. She and Patrick left Ireland in 1864. Their daughter Mary Leahy did not want to leave so they arranged for her to board at Mt. Mellary for the year. She emmigrated to Chicago the next year. Mary Leahy was born at Ballyhane East, Modeligo in 1842. Eliza Shea went by the name Alice in Chicago. Her family knew her as Alice Nugent Leahy so I don't know if she might have been adopted by a family named Nugent. Her birth records in Ireland refer to her as Eliza Shea, daughter of Richard Shea.
