Elizabeth's parents were James Hughes 1842 and Bridget Canavan 1846. She had several brothers and sisters and was one of two that migrated to New York City. She arrived in the port in 1904.
She married Thomas Fox from Cappawhite, Tipperary in 1906. Her daughters, Bridget (Josephine) and Catherine were born in New York City in June 1907 and May 1909.
