Migrated to/Born in USA

Elizabeth Tierney was the daughter of (unknown) Tierney and Bridget (unknown). She was most likely the youngest child of the couple, with her father passing by her mid teens. She is recorded in 1921 living with her mother in the household of her older sister Mary, born ~1801, and Mary's Husband, Dennis Fennelly in Birr, King's (Offaly), Ireland.

Elizabeth, later in life refered to as Eliza, married Thomas Henry O'Meara, presumably around 1822. They most likely married in the parish of Birr and Loughkeen, with Eliza residing in Birr and Thomas coming from Tipperary. They had 2 sons, William and John, born in 1823 and 1824 respectively, before they migrated to Carlton, Ontario, Canada, presumably around 1827 or 1828. They first appear in Canada records in 1828 when they bought land. The first of 13 children born in Canada was in 1829 and the last in 1851.

Later in 1851 they migrated to the United States and settled in Iowa, where they had their last child in 1852. They are found in the 1852, 1854, and 1856 Clinton county, Iowa censuses.

Elizabeth died Jan 1852 and is buried in Immaculate Conception cemetery in Petersville, Iowa.
