  • I am also trying to find out more about this lady. My maiden name is Conklin in USA, prior to the American version I believe was Coughlan. Ellen was married to my distant relative Michael Conklin. The only thing I can find from Familysearch.org is this statement died at Ocean, Osijek-Baranja, Croatia, at the age of 47. I cannot make sense of this since her origin was Ireland and she moved to USA. I need help finding my relatives before Michael and Ellen. The Family Search stops with them. I want to know more about them in County Cork and County Offaly. Any help would be nice.

  • I do not know any more about this woman than I have posted on Family Search.  I have found a lady who MIGHT fit recorded circa 1847 in Canada, and a Paul or Philip Horan as having purchased land in Oakland County  about 1850.  I do not have my files open right now, so I can not give you any more specifics. The Irish records of my family are scarce and difficult to trace without corresponding documentation in the States.I have concentrated my research in the registers of the RC Churhes that served the parish of Lemanaghan in Kings County, Ireland.  Best of luck in your research!!  Judy

  • Additionally, I do not know who changed "at sea" to the location containing Croatia, but I will change it back.  The information was given to my by the daughter-in-law of one of Thomas and Ellen Horan Conklin's sons before she died in the 1970's.   I have found nothing to support or contradict that information.
