Description of marriage record for Ellen Hurley. | Ireland | https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:FGFB-PX5 |
Ellen Hurley married Jeremiah McCarthy (McCarty) on Feb. 2, 1817 in Inchigeelagh, Cork. Witnesses were Ty McCarthy and Jeremiah Hurley.
She had a son, Daniel McCarthy, born about 1850. He left Ireland for the US and married Mary Ellen Doherty (Dougherty) of Fall River, Massachusetts. They had six children before Daniel's death in 1899 -- aged 49 years.
I have Ellen and Jeremiah's marriage record from Inchigeelagh parish but there are no baptismal records for children. Perhaps they left the parish shortly after their wedding? I'm wondering who their parents were, the names of their other children, and what happened to them? Did they settle somewhere else in Ireland or did they go to the US like their son? Thank you so much!
