Hey Jeremiah Donovan turns out to be my 4th great grandfather, I never knew this until recently, I have been having recurring dreams with his name before I found out!

I know the girl on the left is my great grandmother, Mary Donovan Bulger who was born in NYC in 1859. My cousin just showed me the picture on the right yesterday. I had never seen it before. It was taken in NYC. I'm struck by the similarity in the collars. My thought is that the woman on the right is my great great grandmother, Ellen Sheehan Donovan, who was born in Desertserges, County Cork around 1825 to Symon Sheehan and Mary Sheehy. She came over on the Tuscany in 1849 and settled in NYC. She and my great great grandfather, Jeremiah Donovan, from Dunmanway, Cork, lived in the Irish Tenements on Cherry Street just under where the Brooklyn Bridge enters Manhattan. Of course, it wasn't built yet when they lived there. She had 5 babies and only 2 survived.
If that is Ellen Sheehan Donovan, she would have been about 50 in that photo. I'm wondering about the significance of those collars.

Margaret (my recently discovered great great grandmother) remained in Cork and married Thomas Finn(e). They were in Kilcolmanpark, Cashel in the 1911 Ireland Census .

Hi Lisa! Yes I do, I discovered that he is my 4th great grandfather! My grandfather is called Alexander Donovan married to Elizabeth Clark (now Donovan) so I'm guessing it would of been his great grandfather.
