My Great-Grandmother: Mary Elizabeth DONNELLY's father George DONNELLY was a Soldier but died youngish in Dublin and is buried at the Glasnevin Cemetery.  Conflicting story is that Mary was born in Rustenburg [near Johannesburg] but I have not found a birth record.   Her Mother Sarah DOYLE, and siblings Sarah, George, Henrietta and Emily Anne were allocated a pension once George Donnelly senior died in approx 1871.

In the Cemetery plot with George Donnelly are 8 other people, with surnames of DOYLE AND DONNELLY, but I do not have their connection [only surmising where they might belong]

Mary Elizabeth Donnelly, married Christopher Clement[s] Baddock in 1881 in Dublin Ireland.   The only reference I have found of a Christopher's prior to his army records is within a family using the name BADCOCK and living in England.   His father George, and some siblings continued to use the name BADCOCK.   His Grandfather is Clemens BADCOCK.

Christopher and Mary moved to England approx 1884.
Their children were:  Twins George Christopher & William Patrick 1882 [Ireland], Maude 1884 [Aldershot], Lizzie 1886, Annie 1890, Hettie 1890, Henry 1884, Beatrice 1895.  Mary's husband Christopher died in an accident in 1902, leaving many of their children in dire conditions which meant they had many visits to the UK London workhouses.

My grandfather, Harry [Henry Cecil] Baddock eventually was put onto the Training Ship "Exmouth" which helped him become a part of a shipping crew.   He travelled a lot and eventually 'jumped ship' and settled in Dunedin, New Zealand - this is where his new life began.

Mary Elizabeth BADDOCK married Henry William WHEELER 14 Feb 1916.   It appears she met him through the Workhouse system.
