Francis Flood is my 4 x great grandfather who was born in County Cavan. A search of the National Archive for the 1841 Census shows one Francis Flood living in Bohora Townland in the Parish of Killeshandra, which may be my ancestor.

During the 1840s Francis, along with his family: Wife Betty and children Ann, John, Rosand, Susy and Francis jnr, left for England and appear in Padiham, Lancashire in the 1851 census, in which he describes himself as a Stone Mason. The place of birth for Francis and Betty is described on the census as Cavan (Mottridge?) and the children were born in Drumgoon.

Ann, the eldest daughter, married my 2 x great grandfather, Joseph Murgatroyd and eventually died in 1898 in Keighley, West Yorkshire in an unmarked grave in Utley Cemetery. The grave is now marked.

I have now traced the graveyard in which both Francis and Betty were interred in the late 1870s. Is located on the outskirts of Bradford in West Yorkshire.
