Francis Martin Gormley was born in Fermoy Co. Cork in 1870 to Edward Gormley (1824-1897) and Mary Casey (1841-1888).

Francis Martin was one of six children. His siblings were;

Francis Martin married Helena Antonus Credon (1878-1927) and the pair had two daughters, 

  • Mary (b.1899)
  • Helen Antonia (b. 1899 - d. 1975)

In the 1911 Irish census, Francis Martin is named as the Master of the Fermoy Union Workhouse, a position that had previously been held by his father Edward. 

Francis Martin was widowed in 1927 and he himself died in 1935.
