Migrated to/Born in New Zealand

Documents say Hamilton QUINN came from Co. Down (possibly Co. Antrim).  His actual place of birth could be anywhere, some time between 1827-1836 !

On 1 April 1851 or 1857 he married Jane FULTON of Carnmoney at St Anne's Parish Church, Belfast (Church of Ireland).  Hamilton is said to be a stonemason, his father Richard a cooper, and Hamilton's mother is named Mary QUINN nee WILSON.  The MORROW family may have significance.

In July 1865 Hamilton & Jane left Gravesend, England on the "Queen of the Colonies".  They arrived in Brisbane, Australia where they lived until 1870 when they moved on to New Zealand, settling in the Auckland region where Hamilton was a farmer.  It seems there were no children by this marriage.

Hamilton's second wife was Rebecca DOHERTY, originally from Cashelshanaghan townland near Ramelton, Co. Donegal.  They married in New Zealand and had 6 children, 4 surviving into adulthood - Margaret, Robert, Joseph and Annie.  Hamilton died in 1892 and Annie was born the following day.  Rebecca remarried in 1897 to James CRAIG.

Decades of research have failed to find our Hamilton QUINN (my great grandfather) in Ireland.  To start, we need the parish in which he was born ....!
