Honora McCarthy "Nonie" was born, according to civil records in February 1891 in Farranamanagh, Kilcrohane, Dunmanus Bay, County Cork, Ireland, but she always celebrated in December (1890). She did not know her exact birth date. She was the oldest child of Timothy McCarthy and Catherine T. Daly McCarthy. She left Ireland from Queenstown on ship Franconia arriving in Boston, MA 13 Sep 1911 with $10 in her purse. Her Aunt Margaret Maher in the Irish section of Boston was her destination. She planned to immigrate to the US for 5 yrs for education and to make higher wages to help her family in Ireland but did not return to Ireland until much later in her life. She worked for the Almy family in one of the Delaware mansions in Buffalo, NY as a cook.

On 6 Sept 1916 she married Patrick Joseph Hart (born in Parish Knock, County Mayo) and they had ten children. In the 1920's Nonie ran a dry goods store on Triangle Street in Buffalo, NY which closed after a fire of unknown origin. She lived in Buffalo the rest of her life and died 2 Mar 1978.

Patrick and Nonie's descendants have been having annual family reunions in Buffalo, NY for over 75 years.
