Migrated to/Born in USA
Additional Information
Date of Birth 1st Jan 1796 (circa)
Date of Death 18th Dec 1844
Spouse (First Name/s and Maiden/Surname) Lady Julia Coullion per family tradition passed down by her son Peter Bracken. Widow of John McDonough when she married James Bracken in 1831. (The Philadelphia parish marriage record has Mary Donelly and James Bracken but I'm convinced this is same person, especially because it was on the same day as James Bracken was naturalized.) Philadelphia city directories have her first as Julia McDonough and then Julia Bracken after 2nd marriage.
Names of Siblings From the ship's passenger list: Patric Bracken, born c.1792, and John Bracken, born c.1797, traveled with and shared a trunk with James Bracken when he immigrated to the United States. They are likely to be siblings or cousins. Also with them was Sarah Bracken, born c.1811, possibly a sister or niece or most likely the wife of John.

Comments

  • Children of James Bracken and Julia Coullion born in Philadelphia per Roman Catholic church records were Peter (b.1832), Honora (b.1834), and Julia Ann (b.1838).

Note: Descendants of Peter Bracken believed that both his parents were Irish but did not pass down any other information about his father James--even his name.
