Baptised in Ss Peter and Paul's, Cork City (Cork No 2 Urban Electoral Division).  Arrived in Sydney, New South Wales, on the "Hornet" on 3 March 1859. Married Annie Carpenter on 23 December 1882 in St James Church, Sydney.  By the time of his marriage he had dropped the 'e' or it was not registered with the 'e'.  His older brother Richard kept the surname Cooke.  Occupation was a Labourer. Died at his home - 237 Stanmore Road, Stanmore, of Valvular Disease of the Heart and Syncope (he had been ill for 14 years).  Buried in Rookwood Cemetery, Rookwood, New South Wales. 9 children: Robert J Cook 1884-?, Richard Thomas Cook 1886-1940, Charles E Cook 1888-?, Stephen G Cook 1890-?, Violet M Cook 1893-1935, Rita M Cook 1897-?, William Henry Cook 1899-1940, Albert Ernest Cook 1900-?, Rosa Maslen Cook 1903-?
