James Fitzgerald married Mary Humphries (1851-1911) who was from Rathnameneenagh, Waterford, on 18.11.1876.
I have been told by a local historian that James had a postal round and made his deliveries using a pony. One day, his pony ran off, which meant he could not deliver the mail. So he retired to the Ring area and spent the rest of his days fishing!
Mary was the daughter of a coastguard.
They had five children: Edmond/Eamon, Mary Agnes, Richard, Johanna and Honora, all born between 1877 and 1886.
Richard (1882-149) is my paternal great-grandfather.
