Migrated to/Born in USA

James Lawrence Deasy, also known as JD, is my paternal great-grandfather.  He was born in County Cork Ireland, during the Great Famine of 1845-1849.  From his death record, I discovered that his parents were Jeremiah Deasy and Margaret Collins.  Their children were John, Jeremiah, Mary, James, and Denis.  They may have had other children.

James came to America (New York or Boston) in either 1862 or 1866.  On August 17, 1884 he married Katherine Margaret Dillon, at St. Patricks Cathedral in Manhattan, NYC.  They had 8 children, one being my grandfather, Daniel Aloysius Deasy, born in 1894.

Family lore says that a couple of the brothers went to settle in Australia,  another came to the USA and died during the Civil War in Libby Prison in Richmond, VA.
